Rehabilitation Center
Sephardic House operates a rehabilitation center for soldiers and residents of the north that works wonders every day. The rehabilitation processes are characterized by a holistic approach and rely on innovative technologies. The multidisciplinary team helps each person strengthen their physical and cognitive abilities, cope with changes in their situation, improve self-confidence and create an optimal life for themselves. The Sephardic House Rehabilitation Center offers orthopedic, neurological, chronic and psychological rehabilitation, specialized programs for amputees, and a recovery department of hotel standard. The center has arrangements with all health insurance funds and the Ministry of Defense, and it is also possible to be admitted privately.
Accommodation
Sephardic House, located in the Neve Sha’anan neighborhood and overlooking Haifa Bay, offers high-quality and diverse accommodation for private residents and those funded by the Ministries of Health, Welfare and Defense. The 12 departments of the House, which consists of two buildings, are home to over 400 permanent residents at various levels of functionality: frail, needing full time care, and mentally ill. Sephardic House is run largely according to the innovative cluster model concept, based on an environment with a homely feel that encourages independence, freedom of choice and active participation of the residents, plus a unique approach by the care team.
About Us
Sephardic House is a central element of the activities of the Jewish Sephardic Congregation – Haifa, which was founded 150 years ago. It is an old, large and warm home that provides a full and innovative response to the needs of the elderly at all stages of ability. The home holds a geriatric hospital license, with 12 departments that handle various levels of functionality, a day center for elderly citizens, and a rehabilitation center, and also offers the community a range of activities. The home employs about 350 people with many different cultural backgrounds, who work in rare harmony and in a pleasant atmosphere. They include doctors, nurses, nursing staff, and paramedical staff.
For the Community
Throughout the day, Sephardic House provides a broad response to a new stage of life. The day center seeks to meet the social, emotional and occupational needs of senior citizens throughout Haifa. The activities strengthen and maintain motor and cognitive abilities, broaden social connections and relieve loneliness. The Shehecheyanu Club is aimed at ‘young retirees’ and offers a variety of high quality enrichment classes, lectures in popular fields, singing and dancing evenings, and activities for children. There is a coffee cart on site, offering visitors to the home and members of the community excellent coffee and opportunities for social interactions.
Knowledge Center
Sephardic House is considered a leader and innovator in its field. The research and learning center operated jointly with Haifa University attracts scientists from Israel and around the world to visit and share knowledge. Ventures and start-up companies apply to use Sephardic House as the setting for trials that test products and services at the forefront of science in the fields of alleviating loneliness, artificial intelligence, accessibility, medicine, and more. Students of medicine, social work, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, studying and for a master’s degree in gerontology, visit Sephardic House throughout the academic year, exchange information, take tours, and gain hands-on experience in actual practice.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center
Entrepreneurship and innovation are two of the key values on which the work of Sephardic House has been based since its establishment. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center connects the House with startups and leading companies in the field of medical devices, and serves as an incubator for the development of products and services essential for rehabilitation and the elderly population. Residents and recovering patients at Sephardic House benefit from experiencing innovative products. The Entrepreneurship Center provides full support for both logistical and content aspects, creating a perfect environment for testing the feasibility of each initiative and idea, as well as for their implementation.
